You know those days where you plan on going running at a certain time and 2 hours later you are still sitting at home knowing that you still need to go running?
I had one of those days today. I woke up with every intention of going running right away and here I am two hours later sitting here staring at my computer in my running clothes. My problem today was that I didn't plan my run last night. I thought of a few places I could run but I didn't make a set plan and decision. When I plan my exact route, or know which trail I'm going to run I am about 95% more likely to not procrastinate!
The easiest way to keep yourself from getting stuck inside is to have a running buddy! I love running alone a lot of times, but I also love having a good friend to go running with. A buddy is pretty much a foolproof against procrastination! You aren't going to keep your friend waiting when you know you have to meet her (or him) at a certain time.
Another silly trick I try is to get dressed! Put your running clothes on, don't just sit there in your PJ's or your work clothes. You gotta change before you can go, so get changing.
I also like to listen to some inspirational music. Find a power song that really gets you pumped and excited to get out that door. (Mine right now is Headstrong by Trapt)
The best thing for me though is to plan my run the night before. Plan exactly where I'm going and what I'm going to wear.
What are the tricks you use when you are having a hard time getting out the door? Or what do you do to ensure you won't have that problem when it comes time for your run?
